Events of the North in partnership with Durham University and supported by Durham County Council are excited to announce the return of the Durham City Run Festival from 15th-18th July 2021. Postponed from the original 2020 dates due to the current situation regarding Covid-19. These new dates are subject to current coronavirus-related restrictions being lifted at an appropriate time

Events and activities will be held throughout the city with the main hub being at Durham University as part of their new partnership with the Festival. A VIRTUAL event will take place on the original event dates in July with runners able to take part in a Virtual 10K, 5K or 1 mile along with other online activities and sessions available.

The Prince Bishop’s Durham City 5K and 10K races return, as well as Paula’s Families on Track powered by Atom Bank, the Run Like A Legend timed mile and our popular themed runs and tech talks. A full programme of exciting activities and events aimed at all ages and abilities will be released in the coming months. There will be something for everyone, even if you’ve never run before!

Last year we brought a host of famous faces from the running world including Paula Radcliffe, Laura Weightman, Ben Smith, and Colin Burgin-Plews to name just a few. Stay tuned to find out who features in 2020! Our themed runs are also back this year, with Terry Deary set to give a Horrible Histories tour around Durham’s streets, and many more to be announced…
