The clock is ticking!
Just a few weeks to go and our EOTN Ambassador Peter is dealing with some last-minute challenges. His latest blog is here:
“With the Durham City Running Festival now in sight and the countdown clock on, what’s the last thing you want?
That’s right, an injury.
“You have sprained your ankle ligaments” said the doctor. Not what I wanted to hear but I knew I had done something.
I was running at the Endure24 weekend, a 24 hour team relay over a 5 mile course.
It was my last lap of 5 and with about a mile and a half to go I made my way past some other runners. One of them stepped in front of me and I had to quickly move to the side. My foot went over, one way and then the other.
I carried on running to the finish line but started to get discomfort in my ankle.
After a couple of days, my ankle wasn’t getting any better. I decided to get it checked out and get the diagnosis I didn’t want to hear.
I’ve been told not to run for a few more days, ice and elevate my ankle and do gentle exercises. But they are confident I’ll be back running before the Durham 10k.
It’s frustrating and not the build up I wanted before race day. But I’m staying positive and I’ll be doing all I can to fix my ankle.
I’ll be back, strong and ready to run the Durham 10k”
Good luck Peter, we are rooting for you.
