North East charity icon prepares for first Durham City Run event
If you’ve been part of any large-scale running event in the North East in the last few years, you won’t have missed Colin Burgin-Plews. Colin, also known as Big Pink Dress, has become an icon for charity runners, raising over £111,000 for charities including Breast Cancer Now.
Colin has taken part in a number of Events of the North races including being the official starter for the 2017 Sunderland City Run 10K, an honour he shared with World record holder Paula Radcliffe. They will join forces again this summer as Colin takes part in the Prince Bishops Durham City Run 10K.
Colin comments: “In the past 5 years I’ve been doing Big Pink Dress events all over the country, so it’s surprising I’ve never been to do the amazing Prince Bishops Durham City Run! I’ve decided to rectify that this year. I’ve heard absolutely amazing reviews about the event. As I used to live in Durham it will be lovely to bring Big Pink Dress back. I’ve done the Sunderland City 10K three times and feel the Prince Bishops Durham City 10K will be a welcome addition to my yearly runs. I am truly excited.. so much so I have decided to stay over until Saturday to watch the other runs in the Festival”
We can’t wait to see your Durham themed dress as you charge up that final hill, Colin!
