FRIDAY 26th JULY A CELEBRATION OF SIR ROGER BANNISTER
SUPPORTED BY DURHAM UNIVERSITY
Sir Roger Bannister became the first man to break the 4 minute mile 65 years ago in Oxford. The British public voted it as the greatest sporting achievement of the 20th Century. Sir Roger sadly died last year, but this remarkable man was as famous in the world of Neuro-Science as he was to millions of sports fans around the globe.
We are delighted and honoured that Sir Roger’s family will be attending this unique evening of celebration and recognition.
The event will begin with a special viewing of the acclaimed documentary “Everest on the Track”. Previously aired on BBC4, Sir Roger and others describe the events leading up to, and including those incredible moments on the track at Iffley Road.
The Bannister family will then be joined by former World Record holder and British Record holder for the Mile Steve Cram and Paula Radcliffe to discuss with the audience, Sir Rogers’s achievements on and off the track, and the impact of his superb performance.
This will be an all ticket event. For booking details visit GALA THEATRE

PAULA’S FAMILIES ON TRACK Powered by ATOM BANK
World record-holder in the marathon Paula Radcliffe knows better than most the benefits of an active lifestyle and running is obviously her favourite way to stay fit and healthy. As the mother of two energetic children she wants them to enjoy running too, but they can’t usually take part in events together. That provided the inspiration for Families on Track. A unique event where families can participate together to complete the distance, having fun on the way, and ensuring everyone can join in no matter their age or ability.
This is a world premiere for Durham so make sure you register to take part in the FIRST EVER Families on Track.
