“Be ready for change!”

“One thing I’ve learnt since I started running, is that your plans can change and you have to be ready for it. Whether it’s a last minute change during a race or your long term plans. During my last race, the Hull Half Marathon I was on the start line and was feeling good. Could a PB on the cards? I set out at PB pace but after 5 miles started to realise it wasn’t going to happen. It was a warm day and I was struggle to maintain the pace. I made the decision to slow down. No need to do any stupid and risk injury or illness. I finished the race and on reflection know it was the right decision to change my plans mid race.

I’ve thought about doing my 1st marathon for a while but never had the nerve to sign up. This year’s plan didn’t include a marathon but I recently won a place in the Yorkshire Marathon. So my plan for the year has now totally changed. But these things happen, it’s just a matter of adjusting your plans and making the most of it!”
