Run Like A Legend

The Mile is one of the most iconic distances in athletics. Sir Roger Bannister captured the worlds imagination in 1954 when he became the first man to break the seemingly impossible 4 minute barrier. Since then just over 1000 athletes have matched his feat. That’s not many in 65 years! So how about a 6 minute mile or an 8 minute mile? What’s your record? Do you know? Here’s your chance to find your limit and emulate Roger Bannister as you Run Like A Legend!

The Durham City Run Festival will feature an accurately measured 1 Mile course along the banks of the River Wear, starting and finishing close to the City Centre. You will be electronically timed and the route is marshalled throughout for runner safety and hopefully encouragement! There will be allocated time slots on Friday July 26th between 9.30 and 5 pm. Booking is not yet open, but keep checking in with us for further details about how you can Run Like A Legend.

In the meantime here’s some landmark times to aim at!
